Yemen continues trial of foreigners' kidnappers
Yemen, Judicial, 2/10/1999

Lawyers defending the five British and one Algerian suspects currently being tried in Yemen under terrorism charges on Tuesday asked the court to find that the suspects are not guilty, noting that there were procedural errors taken against the suspects.

During the trial session that started on January 27 in Aden, the lawyers called upon the court to "hold measures taken by the court as null and to announce that the six men are not guilty."

The six men were arrested in December 1998 and accused of planning to launch attacks against US and British interests in Aden. They claim that they are not guilty and that their confessions were extracted under torture."
