On the meeting of President al-Assad with Arab Israeli Knesset members

Israeli Knesset member Talab al-Sane said that he and Knesset member Abdul Malik Dahameshah and leader of the Israeli Arab Change Party, Ahmad al-Teibi, met on Monday with Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on the sidelines of King Hussein's funeral.
In statements to reporters in Amman on Tuesday al-Sane said that President Hafez al-Assad expressed regret over the practices of the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in undermining the peace process. Al-Sane said that President al-Assad discussed with the delegation of Israeli Arabs, "the political map in Israel especially the Arab circle."
Al-Sane praised the importance of the meeting with President Hafez al-Assad. He noted that Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa, who participated in the meeting, inquired about the importance of uniting the Arab ranks inside Israel.
Al-Sane added that the possibility of winning the forthcoming Knesset elections in Israel was reviewed and the political program of the al-Wasat (centrist) Party led by former Israeli defense minister Yitzhak Mordechai.
Al-Sane added that President Hafez al-Assad welcomed their visit to Damascus and extended them an invitation for such a visit.
