King Hassan sends message to president Yeltsin on Sahara issue
Morocco-Russia, Politics, 2/9/1999
King Hassan II sent Russian President Boris Yeltsin a message on the implementation of the United Nations settlement plan in the Sahara, Russian official sources say.
The Royal message was handed on Monday to Russian Prime Minister, Evgueni Primakov, by Mohamed Loulichki, King Hassan II's envoy to Yeltsin.
Tatyana Aristarkhova, the Russian premier's press secretary, told journalists Primakov reaffirmed Russia's support to the efforts that are being exerted by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to implement the U.N. peace plan, which envisages a referendum on West Sahara's self-determination.
Primakov underlined Russia's determination to promote the relations of friendship and mutual cooperation with Morocco and to upgrade political dialogue at different levels, Aristarkhova stated.
