Tunisian president to visit Washington soon
Tunisia-USA, Politics, 2/8/1999
Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali will visit Washington soon to fulfill the invitation presented by US President Bill Clinton.
This will be bin Ali's second visit to the U.S.A since he assumed the power in 1987. Talks are expected to tackle developments in the Libyan - Lockerbie case and the crisis between Iraq and United Nations because these are the two issues regarding which the two countries' positions are in extreme difference, as bin Ali has urged the immediate uplifting of the international sanctions from Libya and Iraq while adhering to international legitimacy.
Talks will also tackle the security status in the Maghreb and Mediterranean areas and methods of developing cooperation in combating terrorism.
