Palestinian bankers deny a crisis with the Jordanian Dinar
Palestine-Jordan, Economics, 2/8/1999
The chairman of bankers in the West Bank, Tawfiq al-Najjar, denied on Sunday rumors disseminated recently that these bankers are behind playing "with the Jordanian dinar in the West Bank."
He stressed that the Palestinian bankers in the West Bank support the Jordanian dinar, which he described as "stable."
In a statement to Israeli radio, al-Najar described certain banks in the West Bank as being behind a "fabricated crisis."
The Jordanian dinar has witnessed a decrease in recent days in comparison to the Israeli shekel. Certain experts attributed the reduction to the bad health condition King Hussein suffered before his death, which was announced on Sunday.
