Moroccan - Italian leather industry partnership

Morocco and Italy will hold by the middle of this February their second meeting devoted to promoting partnership in matters of leather industries and related sectors.

The meeting's agenda includes the training of Moroccan leather craftsmen, the latest innovations in leather processing and investment, know-how and counselling needed for the promotion and marketing of Moroccan products abroad.

Morocco counts about 270 leather processing units employing 15,000 persons. Shoe-making plays an important role in Morocco's leather industry.

Morocco has two leather training institutes which contributed to the development of leather industry and improvement of the quality of the Moroccan leather product that is highly appreciated worldwide.

Moroccan exports to Italy are made up mainly of fertilizers, fresh fish and garments, while imports are made up mostly of cars, machinery and various industrial tools.
