$1.86 billion in profits for Tunisian tourism last year

Tunisia achieved profits of $1.86 billion last year from tourism, an increase of $150 million in comparison with 1997.
Tunisian tourism organizations stated that these profits account for 7% of the total local production in Tunisia.
The number of tourists in Tunisia reached 4.4 million from Europe, spending 31 million tourist nights.
German tourists occupy the first position, followed by the French then the Italians.
