Hussein Ayat Ahmad a candidate for the Algerian presidency

The extraordinary conference of the Socialist Forces Front in Algeria on Thursday announced that the front's chairman, Hussein Ayat Ahmad, will be nominated for the early presidential elections in April.
Ayat Ahmad has registered himself as a "candidate for presidency" at the conference's commissions, which will on Friday ratify the nomination, according to the party's constituency.
Ayat Ahmad is among the few from leaders from the Algerian revolution in 1954 who is still alive. He returned to Algeria on Tuesday after three years in exile in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the opposition party Coalition for Culture and Democracy led by Saeed Saadi called for boycotting the presidential elections.
