Arab League secretary general in Morocco in late February
Morocco-Regional, Politics, 2/4/1999

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid, will visit Morocco at the end of this month to attend an international colloquy on the future of Jerusalem on February 23-25.

The colloquy, sponsored by the Paris-based Arab-European studies center, will debate the statute of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) within monotheist religions, the holy city and the Arab and Islamic outlines, the future of the city in international diplomacy and in Middle Eastern diplomacy, and the role of investments and development projects in safeguarding the identity of the city.

The Arab-European studies center decided to devote its seventh colloquy to the issue of Jerusalem to counter the Israeli maneuvers meant to Judaize the holy city, distort its historical sites and alter its demographic characteristics, through the construction of new settlements and the expulsion of Arabs from their hometown.

The encounter will be attended by several international figures.
