Morocco has not requested to return to pan-African body
Morocco, Politics, 2/4/1999
The Organization of African Unity (OAU) said Morocco has not made any request to return to its fold.
Morocco has made no request to return to the OAU, said OAU Secretary-General, Salim Ahmed Salim, at a joint press conference in Algiers with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.
Morocco, one of the OAU's founding fathers, left the African organization to protest the illegal admission of the phantom Polisario republic during the 1984 Nairobi summit.
Salim Ahmed Salim signed with Attaf an accord on the holding of the next OAU summit in Algiers next July.
