Egyptian businessmen call for removing visa requirements with Morocco
Egypt-Morocco, Economics, 2/3/1999

Egyptian businessmen called Tuesday Moroccan and Egyptian authorities to cancel the entry visa requirement between the two Arab states to rev up trade exchanges and encourage tourism flows.

The call was made during the first meeting of the Moroccan-Egyptian business council held in Morocco's economic capital city of Casablanca.

"The suppression of the visa requirement will be a strong political signal after the two countries' parliaments have endorsed the free trade zone accord sealed last May by the Moroccan-Egyptian High cooperation commission," said an Egyptian businessman attending the council proceedings.

The Moroccan and Egyptian businessmen reviewed ways of boosting trade exchanges, investments and setting up joint ventures in fishing, maritime transport and tourism.

Recommendations adopted by the council will be submitted to the joint high cooperation commission to meet in Morocco next spring.
