Al-Hoss: We will ensure the climate for industry

Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss said that his government will seek to attract investment and ensure the appropriate atmosphere for it, especially in the industrial sector.
Al-Hoss' statements were made while he was addressing the Industrial Investment Forum for Lebanon which he opened on Tuesday at the headquarters of ESCWA (Economic and Social Committee for West Asia), in the presence of businessmen from Lebanon, Arab, European and American countries whose number exceeded 400.
The participants discussed 24 investment projects in various food industry sectors, building materials and computers.
Deputy director general of UNIDO (the United Nations Industrial Development Organization), Yo Maruno, told the Lebanese daily al-Nahar that his organization studied with the Lebanese government providing assistance to set up free trade zones.
Marino added that UNIDO "will start, through its internationally spread offices to promote investments in Lebanon." The conference, organized by UNIDO in cooperatino with the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon, will conclude its deliberations today.
