A Cypriot court on Monday sentenced two Israeli spies of the Israeli intelligence, the Mossad, for a three-year imprisonment. The two Israeli spies Egal Damari and Audi Hargov were sentenced for three years imprisonment over entering a banned military zone, where military exercises were carried out. They were also sentenced for having spying equipment. The two Israeli spies were arrested in November 9 and they admitted the two accusations. Meanwhile, Haaretz reported that U.S. senators had pleaded for the agents' release.

The Turkish daily Turkia reported on Monday that CIA official Allison Lipson said that it is probable to "preserve the unity of the Iraqi territories after toppling Iraqi President Saddam Hussein." The Turkish daily quoted Lipson as saying that several Kurds are looking forward to the establishment of a Kurdish state. However, the Kurdish leaders do not see that such an objective can be attainable in the short run, and for them the Kurdish state is a very long-term objective.
