Ramsey Clark starts campaign in Cairo to free Omar Abd El-Rahman
Egypt-USA, Politics, 2/2/1999

Former US Attorney Generral Ramsey Clark, who defends the chief of the Egyptian Islamic Group, Sheikh Omar Abd El-Rahman who is jailed in America, is starting a visit to Cairo aimed at releasing the blind Sheikh.

Clark arrived suddenly in Cairo yesterday evening and he informed Sheikh Abd El-Rahman's lawyer in Cairo, Motaser El-Zayat, that he had to come to Cairo before the due date and he headed immediately to El-Fayoum city to visit Sheikh Abd El-Rahman's family.

The jail's administration in the United States prevents the sheikh from writing messages or recording cassette tapes, confirming that his spiritual condition has witnessed lately a relative improvement.

Clark denied communications between the US administration and any other country to extradite the sheikh or that the matter was proposed to Sheikh Abd El-Rahman.
