Egypt - China trade reaches $600 million
Egypt-China, Economics, 2/2/1999
Egyptian diplomatic sources confirmed that President Hosni Mubarak will pay an official visit to China in April, his sixth to China. These visits led to building trust between the Egyptian and Chinese leaders.
The sources said that the bilateral commercial trade volume for 1998 reached $600 million, out of which are $40 million in exports to China and $560 million in imports from China.
The sources related the increase in Chinese exports to Egypt to China's commercial surplus with many of the world's countries, not only with Egypt, as the Chinese merchants and businessmen are playing a more active role in the Chinese market.
