Lebanese resistance attacks against Israeli, Lahd positions in December 1998

The Lebanese resistance on Monday afternoon attacked the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia position in al-Qasir in the central sector. In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said that one of its groups used heavy machine-gun fire and missiles in the attack.

One of the militia men from occupied Deir Saryan town was wounded as a result of the attack.

During last December, the Lebanese resistance, carried out 174 operations against the Israeli occupation forces and pro-Israeli militia positions and patrols. The Lebanese resistance said in its monthly report that five Israeli soldiers were wounded as a result of the operations carried out by the resistance.

During last December, the Israeli occupation forces carried out 117 attacks which targeted more than 100 Lebanese districts or towns. Eight Lebanese civilians in Jenta town were wounded due to the raids carried out by Israeli jets on the areas in the northerp part of the occupied area of south Lebanon.

In addition Israeli occupation forces displaced, last December, 25 civilians from Shabaa town. The occupation forces also destroyed 15 houses in Arnoun town in the central sector.

Due to the escalation of the Israeli aggressive policy, the April Understanding Monitoring Committee held last month, two meetings during which its discussed 14 Lebanese complaints concerning violations of the April Understanding, which bans launching attacks against civilians or targeting populated areas.

During 1998 the Lebanese resistance carried out 1,519 operations. 26 Israeli soldiers and 35 militia men were killed and 44 Israeli soldiers and 55 militia men were wounded.
