Intensive communications by Gaddafi for reviving Gongli Canal project
Libya-North Africa, Politics, 1/30/1999

Colonel Moammar Gaddafi leader of the Libyan revolution, is making intensive communications with all sides responsible for the Gongli Canal project in Sudan, aimed at reviving this major water project.

Libyan official sources said that Libya obtained guarantees from the parties responsible for the areas into which the course of Gongli Canal project crosses to provide guarantees and the proper conditions for implementing this strategic project, which will be a pattern for cooperation among countries of the African continent.

The sources said the Libyan president's concern over the Gongli Canal project comes out of his adherence to the progress and development of the African continent as well as using its resources properly for its people's good and for the whole world.
