Netanyahu, Sharon send messages to Jordan about their special common relations
Jordan, Politics, 1/30/1999
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday sent two messages to Jordanian figures, the first to Crown Prince Abdullah and the second to the former crown prince, Prince Hassan.
Israel Radio reported that Crown Prince Abdullah welcomed the message and expressed his hope that the "special relations" will continue between Israel and Jordan. For his part, Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon sent a message to Crown Prince Abdullah.
These Israeli messages coincided with the US welcome of Crown Prince Abdullah as heir to the Jordanian throne and the removal of Hassan from his post.
On the other hand, Netanyahu said Friday that Israel considers the peace agreement signed between it and Jordan as "a sublime interest." Netanyahu's statements were expressed Friday in a telephone call he made with Crown Prince Abdullah to congratulate him on his new post as a crown prince.
For his part Crown Prince Abdullah told Netanyahu that he will proceed in strengthening cooperation between Jordan and Israel in all areas, Israel Radio reported.
