Mubarak discusses the Iraqi crisis, regional issues with Demirel

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak left Ankara today following a short stop at Ankara's airport where he held talks with his Turkish counterpart, Suleiman Demirel, dealing with regional issues of mutual concern.
In statements to journalists following his two-hour meeting with Mubarak, Demirel expressed gratitude for Mubarak's stop in Ankara on his way to Switzerland. He added that talks with President Mubarak dealt with developments in the regional arena, especially the Iraqi crisis and the situation in Kosovo.
Demirel expressed appreciation for President Mubarak's views and evaluation of issues debated during the discussions as well as the "good offices" he exerts on the regional level in order to strengthen the chances for peace and stability in the region.
Demirel added that consultation continues between him and President Mubarak concerned regional issues. He indicated that Turkey and Egypt continue to exert efforts in order to preserve the peace process and stability in the region.
Mubarak said that the two sides (Egypt and Turkey) are used to exchanging views and consultations on issues of mutual interest. He added that talks dealt with "the Iraqi crisis and means of finding out a solution to it."
Mubarak added that talks also dealt with the current crisis in Kosovo and several regional issues. He indicated that there are almost identical views concerning matters debated during the meeting.
