More than 30,500 Saudis visited Morocco in 1998, ie. an increase of 9.8 percent over the previous year when their number stood at 28,000.

According to the Moroccan tourism office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia ranks first in terms of tourists flows from the Middle East. The number of tourists from the other Middle East countries total 34,034, including nearly 10,000 from Egypt.

The 1997 figures showed that Saudi Arabia was at the 11th rank as regards the number of all foreign tourists visiting Morocco and at the 5th rank in terms of hard currency earnings.

The Moroccan carrier "royal Air Maroc" doubled last June the number of flights between Morocco and Saudi Arabia to meet the increasing demand. Eight weekly flights connect the two kingdoms.
