Saudi budget cuts yet to hit home

The harsh reality of major budget cut backs forced by low oil prices has yet to hit home for most people in Saudi Arabia, economists and diplomats in the kingdom said yesterday. They said government was making concerted efforts to shelter Saudi from the impact of the budgets reductions in the 1999 budget announced a month ago and had backed away from sharing the sacrifice across the board.
