Jordanian army on an alert on Syrian, Iraqi borders
Jordan, Politics, 1/28/1999

Israeli Army Radio said that the Jordanian Army was put on maximum alert, especially on the border areas with Syria and Iraq.

The radio gave no explanation of the reasons behind this measure.

Meanwhile, the Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot said on Wednesday that the alert of the Jordanian Army on the borders with Syria and Iraq comes out of fears of what the report called attempts of anti-Jordanian sides to destabilize the Kingdom.

The Israeli daily Haartez said that Jordan denied that its forces were on maximum alert.
