Iran condemns US air strikes on Iraq

Iran has condemned the air strikes that have been carried out by the US warplanes on Iraq. The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hamid Rida Asefi, said in a statement on Tuesday that Iran is deeply concerned over the "escalation of tension in the region."
Such tension, he asserted, is the product of the US military movements in Iraq. A number of civilians were killed and several houses were destroyed as a result of US strikes raids in southern Iraq.
