Netanyahu appoints Arens as new Israeli defense minister

The Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday appointed Moshe Arens as defense minister in Israel, succeeding Yitzhak Mordechai. Arens, a member of the IsraeIi Likud party, held the post of Israeli defense minister twice previously, in 1983-1984 and 1990-1992.
