Lebanese premier denies secret negotiations with Israel to withdraw from South Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 1/26/1999

Lebanese Premier and Foreign Minister Salim Al-Hoss denied on Monday statements made by resigned Israeli defense minister Yitzhak Mordechai on secret negotiations for withdrawal from South Lebanon. Al-Hoss said "Such statements are grossly groundless," asserting that the Lebanese government does not negotiate the implementation of UN resolution 425, especially it stresses Israel's unconditional withdrawal from South Lebanon until the internationally recognized borders.

Israel's Former Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai said according to an ABS News report that "some type of negiotiation is being conducted. I can't elaborate on this."

Al-Hoss stressed that Lebanon is not ready to give up Lebanon's rights to its territories. On the ME peace settlement Al-Hoss stressed that " Lebanon is committed to the unity of the Syrian and Lebanese tracks and there is no way for any negotiations outside cohesion between the Syrian - Lebanese tracks."
