64 detainees in Palestinian prison stage hunger strike
Palestine, Politics, 1/25/1999
Political detainees in El-Genaid prison in the West Bank city of Nablus started a hunger strike yesterday to protest for their detention without trial.
Palestinian sources said that 64 detainees in the Palestinian prison started a hunger strike after being detained without a trail or without pressing charges against them.
The Palestinian Legislative Council called upon the Palestinian government last month to release 450 political detainees who were being held in its prisons, and it threatened to vote for withdrawing the trust from the government if these detainees are not released.
