Turkey to sell water to Palestinian Authority
Palestine-Turkey, Economics, 1/25/1999
The Turkish Daily News reported that a private company from the Turkish city of Antalia, located on the Mediterranean will sell waters to the Palestinian government.
The paper added that despite concluding works in the project of what is called "Water Peace Negotiations Project," which aimed at settling problems pertaining to water-sharing in the Mediterranean, the Ajar company for transport and tourism in Turkey has signed a contract with the Palestinian Authority.
The paper quoted Ahmad Ajar, director of the company, as saying that according to this agreement 1,000 tonnes of water will be transported to Gaza port from Antalia city every ten days.
Ajar explained this agreement is separate from "the water negotiation projects," adding that the water will be transported to Gaza port in containers. He added that the agreement will be valid as of the end of the current month and that cost of every shipment of water is US $100,000.
