Albright to visit Saudi Arabia Tuesday for consultations on Iraq sanctions
Regional-Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 1/23/1999

US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday on a brief Middle East tour during which she will hold important discussions with the Saudi leaders that focus on bilateral ties between the two countries.

Saudi sources said Albright will discuss the Saudi draft proposal to lift the economic embargo from Iraq after 9 years of applying international sanctions.

The sources added that there are international consultations between Saudi Arabia and other major parties, including Egypt and the United States, regarding this initiative which it is expected to present to the United Nations after persuading the international parties to accept it.
