Israeli defense minister to visit Egypt tomorrow
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 1/23/1999

It was announced today in Cairo that Israeli Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai will visit Egypt on Sunday for a few hours, during which he will meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Defense Minister Hussein Tantawi.

Egyptian sources said Mordechai's visit will fulfill a request received by Cairo through its embassy Israel and that his talks with Egyptian officials will tackle the peace process and the Palestinian track in the light of Israel's suspension of implementation of the Wye River accord.

The sources also added, "We will listen to the ideas carried by the Israeli defense minister to motivate the peace process on the Palestinian track and methods of resuming negotiations on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks."

Mordechai's visit to Egypt is his second since he took up his post.
