Louisa Hanoun: first woman to be nominated in Algeria presidential elections

Louisa Hanoun, the head of the Labor Party in Algeria, announced her candidacy in the presidential elections in Algeria which are to be held in the coming April.
Hanoun said she accepted the nomination of the central committee of the party in order to raise the party's positions for solving Algeria's problems, stopping bloodshed, convening a national conference to restore peace, respecting human rights and settling social problems.
Hanoun has been a proponent of women's rights for three decades. She also worked to legalize the prohibited Islamic Salvation Front and to defend human rights.
