A court in France sentenced eight men to prison because they aided Algerian extremists.
Monte Carlo radio reported that the eight men, seven of whom are Algerians and one of whom is a French citizen of Algerian origin, were imprisoned for a period of between two and six years.
The most severe sentence was given to Ali Murad, who was known to have a relation with Jamil Lonuici, an Algerian detained in Italy and wanted in France on charges of detonating a bomb in a Paris subway station.
