Egyptian candidate runs for UNESCO top position

Egypt has announced the candidacy of Egyptian economist, Ismail Serraj-Eddine, to the post of Director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO.
The term of the present UNESCO chief, Spanish Federico Mayor, expires next November.
The Egyptian candidate is presently working as assistant-general director of the World Bank.
