Primakov: Comprehensive development needs active work on all tracks
Regional-Israel-Russia, Politics, 1/22/1999

Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov has asserted the Russian Middle East peace process cosponsor will continue its efforts to revive peace negotiations.

The Russian state's media department said that during his meeting on Thursday morning in Moscow with Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, Primakov said that Russia is ready to cooperate with all sides concerned on its conception that the way toward comprehensive development falls through active and parallel moves on all negotiation tracks on the grounds of UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 and the land for peace principle.

For his part, Sharon said the efforts made by the Russians as one of the Middle East peace cosponsors is very important to guarantee progress in the Middle East peace process.

Sharon claimed that he is "very interested in maintaining political cooperation with Russia on issues pertaining to peace and security in the Middle East."
