Iraqi foreign minister to participate in Cairo ministerial meeting

Sultan El-Shawi, Iraq's delegate to the Arab League, announced yesterday the participation of Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said al-Sahaf in the meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Sunday at the league's headquarters.

El-Shawi said he presented a note concerning this matter to Arab League officials.

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid expressed his belief yesterday that circumstances are proper for convening a meeting of the Arab foreign ministers in the attendance of all Arab parties. He said "the issue in still difficult yet there are good intentions."

Meanwhile, Syria called yesterday for a comprehensive revision of the Arab position in the anticipated meeting of Arab foreign minsiters in Cairo. Damascus asserted the importance of the Arab foreign ministers finding practical positions for confronting the risks surrounding the Arab states.
