King Hussein returns home

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Tuesday made a telephone call to King Hussein of Jordan in which he congratulated the Jordanian ruler on his return home and over the success of the medical treatment the King underwent in the United States.

President al-Assad expressed best wishes for the King's good health and progress and prosperity for the people of Jordan.

The Jordanian King arrived in Amman on Tuesday afternoon after ending a six-month course of medical treatment in the USA.

Upon arriving at Amman's airport, King Hussein was welcomed by Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, members of the Jordanian royal family, heads and members of the Jordanian parliament and the "al-Ayan council" (the upper house), the Premier, Cabinet members and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Amman.
