Arabs select 20th century's most prominent men of religion

Masses of Arab intellectuals have chosen Syrian Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Keftaro, who is also the chairman of the higher al-Ifta' council in Syria, as one of the most important 20th century religious figures.
The Arab intellectuals also selected renowned Egyptian scholar Muhammad Mutwalli Sha'rawi, Saudi Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz, scholar Youssef al-Fardawi, Imam Muhammad Abdou and Sheikh Muhammad al-Ghazali.
This selection was made through a questionnaire issued by the Egyptian "al-Ahram al-Arabi" magazine (January 3).
The questionnaire covered the whole Arab homeland, selecting the main figures who left their imprint in the area of Islamic appeal and in renovating Islam during this century.
