Ould Daddah calls for investigation of Israeli nuclear dumping in Mauritania
Mauritania, Politics, 1/20/1999
Chairman of the opposition Union of Democratic Forces-New Era in Mauritania Ahmad Ould Daddah has called for investigations into the issue of dumping Israeli nuclear waste in Mauritania.
Ould Daddah, who had been held under house arrest for one month, told his supporters upon his release from prison on Sunday that he will take part in the forthcoming municipal elections in Mauritania.
Ould Daddah and two other officials in his party were placed under house arrest after being convicted of violating the country's interest and distorting its image through making accusations relating to dumping Israeli nuclear waste in Mauritania, a matter which was denied by the Mauritanian government.
