Yemen plans new strategy for using fish resources

Yemeni Minister of Fish Resources Ahmed Mossaed announced that his country presented a report to the Cabinet that included a new strategy for using the country's fish resources and protecting them from the current piracy.
He added that the strategy focuses on perfecting the use of fish resources in agreement with international companies, and encouraging investors to possess boats to make up the core of a sea fleet, as well as using supervision boats, sea inspections, scientific research and upgrading services in the coastal regions.
The minister stated that Yemen's production of fish has risen from 105,000 tonnes in 1996 to 120,000 tonnes in 1998.
