Turkey will not give up chasing Ocalan
Turkey, Politics, 1/19/1999
The Turkish daily al-Sabah said on Monday that Turkey will not give up chasing leader of the Kurdistani workers organization Abdullah Ocalan.
The paper said that Ocalan may have resorted to People's Democratic Republic of Korea, or South Africa, or Ukraine, or Astonia, or Libya, or Armenia, or Yemen or even Iraq.
The paper indicated that the Turkish Foreign Ministry gave instructions to the Turkish embassies abroad to issue urgent expuslsion requests against Ocalan if these embassies receive information on places where he is staying.
Turkish dailies reported on Sunday, according to well-informed sources in Rome, that Ocalan left Turkey on a military plane on Saturday night for an unidentified destination.
The Turkish daily Millet, on the other hand, said that tensions have been escalated between Turkey and Spain with the current preparations to convene meetings of the Kurdish parliament in exile in the Basque region in Spain.
The paper indicated that the target of convening the Kurdish parliament in exile seeks to mobilize international support for the Kurdish cause.
