Syrian Interior, local administration ministers meet to prepare for referendum

Syrian Minister of the Interior Muhammad Harba and the minister of local administration on Saturday held a meeting for the governors of all Syrian 14 provinces to discuss measures relating to the referendum on electing President Hafez al-Assad for a new constitutional term on February 8.

Minister Harba talked about the "importance of nominating President al-Assad for a new constitutional term." He referred to the "mutual feelings of amity and confidence between President al-Assad and the Syrian people."

Among the measures taken in the meeting were preparing lists of citizens who have the right to take part in referendum, preparing referendum cards and seals, specifying referendum centers and establishing committees to be in charge of supervising the referendum process.
