Gulf sources: GCC opposed to Iraqi participation in any summit
Gulf, Politics, 1/16/1999

Gulf diplomatic informed sources stated that the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council will not attend an Arab summit if it is attended by the Iraqi government.

The sources referred to what was reported by the Saudi Press Agency that Riyadh's opposition to any summit attended by Iraq forms the collective position of leaders and governments of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Kuwait called in a message for the United Nations Security Council to denounce what came in the article written by the Iraqi prime minister in the Iraqi "Revolution" newspaper alleging that Kuwait was established as an entity by Britain in order to besiege Iraq and deprive it of its coasts, which were part of it since the Sumerian era.
