Moroccan government council adopts conventions signed with Russia, USA

The Moroccan government council adopted Thursday the conventions signed recently with Russia and the USA on non-double taxation and mutual investment protection.

The accord reached with Russia provides for mutual income tax suppression while the convention passed with the USA stipulates the protection of credit and insurance investments.

The government council, which convened Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi also heard a report by the Moroccan telecom secretary of state on the country's preparations to ensure a smooth computing shift to year 2000 expected to deal a havoc to finance and business milieux. The council agreed to launch an awareness campaign in public and private administrations to enable them better contain the challenges of the Y2K transit.
