Morocco, Politics, 1/14/1999
The Moroccan Parliament's fall session was marked by a spirit of responsibility and earnest dialogue between MPs and cabinet members, the speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives said Wednesday here.
In his closing address of the house fall session which started last October, Abdelouahed Radi said "we are called to make more efforts to better control the government's actions and be up to the citizen's concerns."
He underlined the important role played by the house in the consolidation of democratic culture in Morocco and said during this session, the house adopted 12 laws out of the 17 draft bills tabled before it.
Several Arab and foreign parliamentary delegations have visited the Moroccan house of representatives, Radi added, recalling the importance of his meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on the Sahara issue as well as his latest election as co-chairman of the Euro-Mediterranean parliamentary forum, held lately in Brussels.
Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives also recalled the special session held by the House to denounce the U.S.-British air strikes against Iraq and voice solidarity with the Iraqi people.
