Syrian PA unanimously supports al-Assad nomination for new term of office

The Syrian People's Assembly chaired by Speaker Abdul Qader Qaddoura on Wednesday resumed discussions on the PA special committee's report concerning the message of the Baath Party regional leadership about its unanimous decision regarding the nomination of President Hafez al-Assad for a new constitutional term of office.

In their interventions, members of the PA said that the nomination of President al-Assad for a new constitutional term is an embodiment of "our people's will." They stated that Syria, "thanks to the courage of its leader," has become an important country on the regional and international levels and that "the world has realized that." They added, "There will be no just and comprehensive peace in the region without Syria."

PA members in their presentations highlighted the achievements made in Syria under the leadership of President al-Assad. "We say 'yes' to the nation's leader. We renew our pledge of affection and loyalty to President al-Assad, the hero of war and peace. We are with you and rally behind your wise leadership," the Syrian PA members who spoke at Wednesday's special session said.

Syrian PA members also expressed pride over the accomplishments attained under the leadership of President Hafez al-Assad who "converted Syria into a bulwark of Arab steadfastness and confrontation and made it a center of Arab revolution."

The PA members expressed deep satisfaction over the Arab leader "whose giving to the Syrians is unlimited." The PA members expressed the determination to continue rallying around the President's leadership until liberation and victory are fully materialized.

The Syrian PA members said that the critical state of the Arab nation requires wise and brave leadership such as that demonstrated by President Hafez al-Assad. They added that hardships and previous events have proven that President al-Assad was able to control such events with rationalization and farsightedness.

Under the President's leadership, the speakers said, Syria has witnessed a comprehensive rise in all fields and become a strong country uniting the Arab nation so as to take their right place among the nations. On this occasion the PA members noted: "We extend best wishes of love and allegiance to the great leader, President Hafez al-Assad."
