Posts-telecom workers observe two-day strike
Morocco, Politics, 1/13/1999

Moroccan Posts and Telecom Workers will start Thursday a two-day strike to protest the deterioration of their financial situation.

The Posts-Telecom unionists said they decided to stage the strike, second of its kind in a month, after the authorities "continued to ignore their legitimate grievances."

The unionists say they want to draw the government's attention to their dire situation and insist on the need to improve their work and financial situation to enhance the competitiveness and performance of the Moroccan telecom sector and consequently enable it to be up to the globalization challenges.

For their part, Moroccan public health workers, personnel, nurses and physicians, will observe a two-day strike this Jan.27-28 to claim the increase of some social and professional allowances.

The Moroccan Public health sector counts over 4,000 physicians and 25,500 para-medical personnel and workers.
