Morocco determined to consolidate relations with African countries
Morocco-Africa, Politics, 1/13/1999
Morocco is determined to enhance relations with African countries, a Moroccan minister in Rabat told the chamber of advisors (upper house of the parliament) on Tuesday.
"Fifteen African heads of state or government have visited the Kingdom during the past nine months," Abdesslam Znined, minister in charge of Maghreban and Arab-Islamic affairs, said. He recalled that Morocco has always sustained African liberation movements and hosted several African meetings serving African causes.
"Morocco has 21 embassies and two consulates in Africa," Znined said, noting that the Kingdom is planning to open more embassies and diplomatic missions to enhance Morocco's presence in the continent.
Morocco has signed several African cooperation accords destined to bolster partnership and complementarity with African countries in various sectors of common concern, he said.
