Baghdad calls the opposition to a democratic discussion
Iraq, Politics, 1/13/1999

The Iraqi government called today eight opposition factions to a new discussion with it in Baghdad, as an Iraqi official whose identity was not revealed escorted the representatives of these factions in an urgent visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to hold an important discussion.

The representatives of the United Iraqi Organization, the Islamic Bond, the Islamic Union and El-Shabibal El-Shioia visited Baghdad at the beginning of the month, where they met with a governmental factional delegation.

The spokesman of the United Iraqi Organization, Tarek Saleh, said, "Baghdad revealed a desire for discussions between the two sides," yet he believed that the differences between them is still great.
