Limited ministerial reshuffle in Qatar

Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani on Tuesday made a limited ministerial reshuffle in his government.

He gave Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah al-Ateyah, duties of the Ministry of Electricity and Water which was run by Ahmad al-Sabei. Thereby the two ministers were merged and the latter was removed from the government.

The reshuffle nominated Dr. Hajar Abu Hajar as minister of public health in succession of Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Kawari. Hajar was and is still the chairman of the board of Hamad medical institution.

Sheikh Hamad appointed Hassan Bin Abdullah al-Ghanem as minister of justice, after he served as secretary of the Ministry of Water and Electricity. This ministry was vacant since former minister Najib al-Nu'aimi resigned from his post

The ministers who underwent the reshuffle took their oath before Sheikh Hamad on Tuesday night. The sworn in ceremony was attended by Qatar's crown prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khaleifa al-Thani and the deputy Premier Sheikh Muhammad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani.
