Moroccan-Italian trade in favor of Rome

The balance of trade exchange between Italy and Morocco was in favor of the European country during the first half of 1998, the Arab-Italian trade chamber said.

There was a balance of 205 billion liras in favor of Italy, the chamber said, adding that the value of Italy's imports from Morocco decreased by 5.4 percent during the first six months of 1998 to stand at 324 billion compared to 342 billion liras during the same period in 1997. The value of Italian exports to the North African country jumped by 11.3 percent in 1998 to stand at 529 billion liras (476 billion in 1997).

Overall trade exchange between Italy and the Arab world were in favor of the Arab states, the chamber said.

Libya is Italy's largest supplier in the Arab world, while Tunisia is its largest client.
