Report: Two Jordanian union officials visit Damascus
Jordan-Syria, Politics, 1/12/1999

The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said that the secretary general of the Arab Physicians Union, Dr. Hassan Khreis, and the chairman of the Jordanian Bar Association, Hussein Majli, left for Damascus on Sunday on a two-day working visit.

The paper added that Khreis and Majli will hold talks with Syrian Baath Party regional leadership member Tawfiq Salha with the objective of preparing for the chairpersons and secretaries of Arab vocational trade unions to back Iraq, work for lifting the sanctions imposed on it and stand against the continued US aggression against Iraq.

The Jordanian weekly added that Khreis and Majli discussed on Saturday with several Jordanian opposition parties leaders the idea of convening an Arab people's summit conference so as to expand the forthcoming vocational and workers trade unions conference to also cover Arab political forces, groups and parties.
